My name is Jeff Cable, and I am the owner of Shield Roofing & Painting. I was born and raised in Wake County, NC, where I have worked in the construction industry for 25+ years as a small business owner. In 2015, I made the decision to put the power tools away and specialize within the roofing industry. Shield Roofing & Painting is set apart primarily because of the decades of experience, training and knowledge in construction that I bring to the table. I understand not just the roofing element, but the entire complexities that build a home which allows effective troubleshooting during inspections, repairs and reroofs.
I am frequently asked, “How did you name your company?” In January 2016, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 37. She is the homeschool Mom of my 4 children. Our youngest was just 4 years old. During the early morning hours while waiting for the phone call to confirm what we already knew, she told me that the word “shield” kept popping up. That both confused and angered her. We are a family of faith. She had not been shielded from cancer threatening her life. But for 3 weeks, “shield” was relentless until she finally understood: “I am not promised that I will be shielded from all the storms in life. Storms are inevitable. God promises that He will shield me in the storms.” “Shield” became the theme of 2016. A hard, gut-wrenching lesson learned in the darkest of valleys.
We launched this roofing business on my 40th birthday, June 26, 2017. There could not be a better name befitting this small, family-owned business than Shield Roofing & Painting. It is an honor to meet clients, hear their life stories, the past storms and often current ones of their lives, and to be allowed the opportunity to shoulder the burden. And simply at the end of the day, while we cannot promise protection from every storm, Shield is here to literally provide your home with protection in the storm.
